Principle#2 of TL for Degrowth

We build learning and eco-social spaces that facilitate meaningful and supportive interactions for action and structural changes

Transformative learning for degrowth implies that critical reflection goes together with the creation of opportunities for participants to transform how they interact with the world. This involves making connections between changing individual consciousness, individual behavior, relationships with each other, and societal or cultural structures. This is better achieved in a learning environment where participants are emotionally supported and mentored to take on new challenges and have a shared sense of community and opportunities for committed action. It includes collaborative and constructive dialogue where participants can both freely express their viewpoints and have those viewpoints subject to examination. Building a sense of belonging can also build capacity for and commitment to engaging in socially beneficial action.

Transformative Learning is the forest clearing where sunlight reaches the soil, and diverse species of plants and animals come together to exchange energy, nutrients, and shelter, creating a vibrant ecosystem that constantly adapts and evolves.
