Activities for Principle#5

Work towards the pluriverse

Aim: Create learning spaces that wave together diverse socio-ecological perspectives.

Level of complexity: Medium

Estimated time: 3 hours

  • Ask participants to watch or explore one or more of the following or similar materials in advance:
  • Divide participants into small groups based on the resource they explored.
  • Ask each group to discuss:
    • What cultural practices, forms of knowledge, or ways of living are presented?
    • What values underpin these practices?
    • How do they challenge dominant paradigms of growth or development?
  • Each group briefly presents their insights to the larger group.

Level of complexity: Medium

Estimated time: 2 hours

  • Facilitate a session where the group collaboratively creates a map (physical or digital) of diverse practices, movements, or communities around the world that embody sustainable, post-growth ways of living.
  • Reflect collectively: What did you learn from these diverse perspectives?
  • Discuss in plenary the challenges and possibilities of resisting growth dependencies through alternatives to development.
